Eduardo Sepulveda is one of the riders the Drone Hopper - Androni Giocattoli has had to let go this year due to financial difficulties, and he has resorted to social media looking for assistance to find a team into 2023.
The Argentinian rider has been a pro rider since 2013 and has ridden for the Italian team this season. He won the queen stage of the Tour of Turkey this year and finished the race in third position, alongside a 7th place now in the final race of the season the Tour of Lankgawi where he looked to prove his worth in search of a new contract.
“My team, Drone Hopper-Androni, had financial problems… The days went by and my representative Moreno Nicoletti continued to explore options; and, although the conversations were positive, the offers did not come to fruition," the Argentinian told Relevo. "I decided to give him a hand and roll up my sleeves in search of opportunities."
As the Italian team descends to Continental level, Sepulveda is set to continue in the pro ranks. Gazzetta dello Sport reporters Ciro Scognamiglio reports that he has likely signed with Lotto Soudal, who have relegated to ProTeam level this season.
"I didn't want to think about retiring, but the days went by and I couldn't find anything. In competition it didn't affect me so much, because I was focused on the race; but at home, or at night, it did overwhelm me when I saw that other people found equipment and I continued the same," he continued.
The 31-year old is hence likely to keep a similar calendar, whilst being able to participate in several World Tour races throughout the year in a team that sees space for climbers to have their freedom. “I decided not to put pressure on myself and to enjoy the races as much as possible. I focused on competing, because a good result was what could help me the most to find a team,” he concluded.
