"We'll see how long I can keep this up" - Mads Pedersen takes victory at BEMER Cyclassics the day after winning the Tour of Denmark

After securing the overall victory at the Tour of Denmark with a phenomenal time-trial on Saturday, Mads Pedersen continued his winning run at the BEMER Cyclassics on Sunday in thrilling fashion.

Heading into the final kilometre, a three-man breakaway of Brandon McNulty, Yves Lampaert and Nils Politt held a narrow advantage over the peloton. Sensing the chase wasn't getting anywhere, Pedersen went into 'Beast Mode' and decided to take matters into his own hands and attacked off the front of the bunch and launched a one-man chase to ultimate victory.

“The three guys still had a lead going into the last kilometre," Pedersen recapped in his post-race interview. “I just wanted to cross because I didn't know if we would catch them in the sprint. I went full throttle and didn't know what was happening behind me. Danny van Poppel, (who finished second, ed.) came from behind pretty quickly, but luckily it was enough to take the win.”

“I wouldn't say unbeatable, but the form is good. During the Tour we were already working on a good form to go to the World Championships," he explains. "We'll take that with us now. We'll see how long I can keep this up. From now on, we'll just keep going until it breaks. We try to get the most out of it until I snap.”
