Mads Pedersen's rock-solid condition will not come to an end for the time being. The Danish powerhouse took the overall victory in the final time trial of the Tour of Denmark, at the expense of his teammate and compatriot Mattias Skjelmose who accepts the defeat by the hand of his teammate.
Runner-up Skjelmose spoke after a 'great week'. "Of course I would have loved to win, but finishing second behind Mads is probably the best way to lose, so in the end I'm happy with the result. I got a nice victory in Vejle and I'm happy about that. Finishing second behind Mads is not a bad result," Skjelmose said in press release.
"My chrono wasn't great, but not bad. I didn't have the legs to follow my pacing plan, but even if I could I don't think I would have won. Mads put in a great ride and he deserved the win. It was the strongest man who won and I'm really proud to finish second behind him. He does 'Mads things' and I hope one day I can win the Tour of Denmark like him."
