  There's a simple economic reason why these sport directors call for this claptrap. They want to be able to under perform and never have to worry about losing their places at the highest levels of the sport. If he gets this, he's locked in, no stress to perform. As it is, he's always 2 bad seasons from losing his sponsors and his license. So, this would stop any new upcoming team from competing against his team. Cycling stagnates. It's a typical thing done by monopolies and oligopolies, use their greater sway with the rule makers to prevent competition! -An Economist

  Pog is the heavy favorite, but I agree, the "heavy" part seems less than it did before this show of force by Jonas. He said - and I believe him - that he is not "on his knees" despite three weeks of racing. If he recovers well and stays healthy, it will be a fun TDF.

  What an idiotic comment. The fact that the best GC rider in the world hasn't won the Vuelta yet is purely because he prioritized races that are harder for him to win. It's irrelevant when you do it, only that you do in your career

  What was amazing, is that Jonas never looked like he was going deep at all, but appeared like it was just a cosy training day while leaving his competitors in the dust. TDF is becoming increasingly exciting to watch.
