Anders Foldager of Denmark took victory on the opening stage of the 2023 Tour de l'Avenir as the breakaway denied the peloton in a frantic finale.
Six riders went up the road early on the opening day of racing at the Tour de l'Avenir and with 20km to go, the five riders that remained, still held around two minutes advantage over the peloton.
Rather than making a concerted chase, the peloton was resorting to repeated attacks. Nevertheless, the time gap was dropping. Despite the franticness of the chase in the final few kilometres, the break held on. Anders Foldager of Denmark securing the win.
