Wout van Aert has been part of the advertising for an upcoming soapbox race which is set to take place in the 4th of September in the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps racing track. As one of the most influencial sports figures in Belgium, and current national road race champion, he's brought to life some interesting footage of what to expect.
"This was not the first time I rode up the Raidillon [the infamous uphill section of the racing circuit]. So I already knew how difficult it would be and now I'm nicely reminded of that. You start at full speed, but it gets so steep that after a while you almost have to crawl to get to the top," he said.
He added: "A really cool location for a soap box race! With a little imagination, such a soap box is also a small race car, and then you are in the right place on this F1 circuit - one of the most iconic places in Belgium - Driving down the soapbox at such a speed was really cool to do. I won't soon forget that. Luckily the soapbox did have some sturdy wheels and a brake."
