With the end of the year soon coming, many countries are organizing their own awards to celebrate the achievements of their athletes in 2022. The Netherlands have a prestigious field in which to select, and it features several cyclists as contenders.
The men's list is counting with Mathieu van der Poel, Dylan van Baarle, Fabio Jakobsen and Koen Bouwman from road cycling, and track specialists Jeffrey Hoogland and Yoeri Havik. Meanwhile on the women's side, season dominator Annemiek van Vleuten is present, joined by two other veterans of the peloton Ellen van Dijk and Marianne Vos.
Furthermore, Louis Delahaye and Merijn Zeeman - Jumbo-Visma's DS and main figure behind the wheel at the Tour de France - have been selected as candidates for trainers of the year, whilst Jumbo-Visma also finds itself amongst the selection for team of the year.
In the 11th of December there will be a confirmed list with three athletes/trainers/teams shortlisted in each category, and the awards will be delivered on the 21st of December.
