After two consistent seasons, Matteo Trentin is said to have already agreed to renew his contract with UAE Team Emirates as the team look to expand their team wide into one of the strongest cobbled classics teams.
Gazzetta dello Sport's Ciro Scognimaglio reported that there is already a verbal agreement between the Italian rider and UAE Team Emirates. Trentin was brought in from the late CCC Team in 2021 where he became a leader in the classics block. The 32-year old is likely to extend his contract soon, and remain in the team which has became one of the most successful in the peloton.
Trentin has taken two wins in his stint with the UAE team, at Trofeo Matteoti last year and Le Samyn this year spring. He has then went on to support Tadej Pogacar at the Tour des Flandres, in what was a main classics block without a standout individual result. His schedule for the rest of the season is still undecided, however it is likely that he will focus on the national championships, Vuelta a España and the late-season Autumn Italian classics which suit his style of racing.
UAE are reported to be on the hunt for more classics riders, with rumours of interest in Paris-Roubaix winner Dylan van Baarle who is currently under the spotlight of many teams' interests.
