Tadej Pogacar has managed to win the penultimate stage of the Tour de France 2023. The Slovenian leaves the Tour de France with a good taste in his mouth after having a really bad time in the queen stage.
"Today I was finally able to feel like myself again, it was great to feel good from start to finish after several days of suffering, to be able to put it all on the finish line, I'm happy." Do you need another week, he was asked, "Yes, now we can continue (jokingly). No, let's go home."
On the strategy for the victory in the 20th stage of the Tour de France, he highlighted the great work done by Adam Yates to position him perfectly for the final sprint against a Jonas Vingegaard who on this occasion was unable to beat him, after his attack on the final climb couldn't dislodge the Dane.
"I was waiting for Adam and his brother, they were very good and Adam left me the perfect finish, thanks to him I was able to win more easily, the team worked very well again," he said, having comfortably outsprinted the competition into Le Markstein.
Finally, he was asked about his best moment and his worst moment in the 2023 Tour de France: Best moment: "The atmosphere in the Basque Country, I'll keep this." Worst moment: "Every time Marc Soler looked at me on Col de la Loze with his fearful eyes".
Thus ends a very hard Tour de France 2023 for Tadej Pogacar, in which some days he could hurt Jonas Vingegaard, but in the time trial and on the Col de la Loze he lived the most bitter part of the sport, seeing how he ran out of strength and his great rival clearly surpassed him in the fight for the final victory. He will surely come back in 2024 again with the intention of winning.
