It was already known, but Jonas Vingegaard has confirmed in the penultimate stage of the Tour de France, the last mountain stage before the final ride down the Champs Elysees in Paris, that he is the virtual winner of the French race. The Dane was again attacked by a Tadej Pogacar who could only beat him in the final sprint, but in the Top10 there were a few changes.
There was no fight for the third place on the podium, as Adam Yates showed his strength and crossed the finish line close to the best, securing his first podium in a Grand Tour. His brother Simon Yates will finally be fourth after overcoming the gap he had against a Carlos Rodriguez who crashed, a place in front of a fighting Pello Bilbao who finishes sixth after a great Tour de France.
Seventh position for Jai Hindley, who went from better to worse in the Tour and after his fall he was dedicated to confirm his top 10. Eighth finished a fantastic Felix Gall who, after winning on the Col de la Loze, in this penultimate stage was the only one who rode at the pace of Pogacar and Vingegaard. Closing the top 10 were David Gaudu and Guillaume Martin, both more than 20 minutes behind the leader, the last three overtook Sepp Kuss who crashed hard at the end of the day and could not sustain the pace later on.
