The Visma | Lease a Bike sale continues as important mountain domestique heads to Jayco AlUla

After nine years spent with Visma | Lease a Bike, Koen Bouwman will take his services elsewhere for the 2025 season. Among the 30-year-old's biggest remarks belong two Giro d'Italia stages in 2022 with the KOM classifcation on top.

Despite the fact that Visma made a proposal to renew with Bouwman, WielerFlits report suggests that the 30-year-old's new home should be Down Under - in Jayco AlUla. In recent years, the Australian formation has built a strong Dutch link around the sprinter Dylan Groenewegen with compatriots Elmar Reinders and Jan Maas also on the roster.

Bouwman's departure from the Dutch team can be seen as somewhat surprising as he has been one of the most valued helpers within the team for years and the team could definitely capitalize on his experience with all the young talent flowing into the team.

One of Bouwman's motivations to leave Visma | Lease a Bike could be that in his nine years among the pros, the climber has never lined up at the start of Tour de France. Knowing the strength and ambitions of the Dutch team this didn't seem likely that would change in the future.

This is not the only strong rider on his way out of Visma | Lease a Bike for 2025, with all-rounder Jan Tratnik rumoured to Red Bull - Bora - hansgrohe. And the Slovenian is not the only Visma - LAB rider expected to strengthen the German super-team with twins Mick and Tim van Dijke increasing the depth of Bora's classics team.
