Climbing up the Mont Ventoux is just about one of the hardest efforts that pro riders endure in pro cycling and this Tuesday afternoon at the Tour de France worries are emerging in the peloton. Top10 rider Tobias Johannessen has collapsed after crossing the finish line of the French climb and has been taken to be medically assisted.
Pictures from the finish line have shown Johannessen crossing it in distress together with teammate and Norwegian national champion Andreas Leknessund. According to reports on the ground he collapsed and the race's medical team immediately began feeding him oxygen. His condition is rather unknown at the moment but the Uno-X Mobility rider has been taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

UPDATE

There has been an update in the meantime to the Norwegian's condition, luckily positive ones as those close to Johannessen explained what happened. "Tobias is feeling much better now. It looked terrible," DS Thor Hushovd shared with Wielerflits. "He was suffering from stomach cramps and is now going to the hospital for a medical check-up, on the advice of our team doctor. That's the best thing to do."
Reportedly he was taken to the medical vehicle of the race for a while, and after regaining consciousness he was taken out in a stretcher towards the team bus. He has been taken to an hospital in Avignon. "It's too early to say. His health is paramount, and we'll listen to his body if there are any problems. But we can only assess that later today," he concluded.
