Tadej Pogacar is the heavy pre-race favourite to reclaim the Maillot Jaune at the 2024 Tour de France next month. In preparation for his second Grand Tour of the season, the Slovenian has been working hard at altitude.
Joined by three of the men who are expected to support the two time Tour de France winner in his latest bid reclaim the Maillot Jaune, Pogacar, Marc Soler, Tim Wellens and Juan Ayuso can be seen full of smiles and alongside the good atmosphere, some hard training seems to have taking place, improving the already sparkling form of the UAE Team Emirates squad. "Hard work but great times here at pre-tour camp with these mountain goats," Pogacar captions the images.
Whilst Pogacar, Soler, Ayuso and Wellens were training hard at altitude, the immense strength in depth of UAE Team Emirates was being showcased at the Tour de Suisse by another two of Pogacar's domestiques for the upcoming Tour de France as Adam Yates secured himself the overall victory ahead Joao Almeida. In truth though, the two UAE Team Emirates leaders looked a cut above all the rest in Switzerland, a scary sign for anyone who holds hopes of overcoming UAE Team Emirates at the Tour de France.
If Pogacar can secure himself the Maillot Jaune next month, the Slovenian will make history as the first man since the late great Marco Pantani to double up with both the Maglia Rosa of the Giro d'Italia and the Maillot Jaune at the Tour de France in the same calendar year. If that ambition is checked off, Pogacar may also attempt to emulate Nicholas Roche and win a Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, World Championship treble.
How do you think Tadej Pogacar will do at the upcoming Tour de France? Will it be the romp some are expecting or can the likes of Primoz Roglic, Remco Evenepoel an expected lesser Jonas Vingegaard still cause a threat to UAE Team Emirates? If you'd like to cast your vote, you can do so on our poll, here!

That was Nicholas Roche's father Stephen Roche who won the Giro, Tour and World Championship in 1987. Nicholas Roche won stages at the Vuelta and the Irish National Championships. Very different rider.

If pog wins as hes expected, there will be a massive asterisk against it due to the severity of JVs injuries.

Like last year for JV because Pog came off a broken wrist, lol? Get real.

Nonsense. He can only race against the folks that show up in the shape they show up. For example, Tour of Flanders might have turned out differently if Pogacar had showed up this year, but there's certainly no "asterisk" on MvdP's emphatic win

Good to see Pog and Ayuso training together. Will this be the first time they've raced together in a real (non exhibition) race?
