Sepp Kuss is a key member of the Jumbo Visma team, providing crucial support to Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic. He has been a part of the Dutch team for over five years, and while he is satisfied with his current role, Kuss still has ambitions to take on a leadership role.
"It's not that I've completely stopped the idea of being a leader, but I don't put that pressure on myself anymore," Kuss told Velonews. He continues, “That is also not something that would make me feel better or worse as a rider. I think it's more important to be happy and relaxed. All the successes I've known have come from opportunities that naturally presented themselves. I never focused too much on one aspect.”
He is gearing up for his next ride in the Volta a Catalunya, starting on March 20th. “I want to ride strong in the Volta a Catalunya. There we almost ride on my training roads. In general I want to win races and seize my own opportunities. I know very well where that is and is not possible. It also gives me a lot of pride and motivation to help the best riders.”
He is aware that it won't be an easy ride, but that challenge is a part of the sport. “I always have the confidence that I can grow to my top level. You always have to keep doing what's in your power, so it's always a training ride. You can never drive above your limit," concludes the American rider.
