Santiago Buitrago will work for Caruso: "We cannot leave him alone"

Santiago Buitrago has not been very active in the 2023 Giro d'Italia. The Colombian from Bahrain Victorious is fourteenth overall, almost 3 minutes behind the top 10. Before stage 18, he confessed to GCN+ that his goal in these last few tough mountain stages on the Corsa Rosa will be helping his teammate Damiano Caruso to finish in the top 5 overall.

"There are three tough days where we will give everything for Damiano Caruso who is fighting in the top-5. We cannot leave Caruso alone. The objective is to reach the top in the general classification with him. I can help, I'll be there."

Regarding his feelings, he admits that he is in good condition: "I am happy to be on stage 18 and with good weather, personally I feel good. Personally, I want to seek the stage victory, we will have to try. We have to go seeing how the race is taking place."
