"Part of our long-term plan" says Patrick Lefevere as Soudal - Quick extend Van Wilder and Vervaeke contracts

Soudal - Quick-Step have announced extended deals for Ilan van Wilder and Louis Vervaeke as they continue to prepare for future seasons and their adaption to a GC fighting team.

“For me it’s important to be happy in the team. This was one of the factors that made it really easy to sign a new deal," said a delighted van Wilder from an interview with the Soudal - Quick-Step official website. "It’s an honour to be part of one of the best squads in the world. I had two great years and I am delighted I can continue here. I improved a lot since coming here and I plan on becoming better and better with the help of the team."

Both riders have extended until 2025, with Vervaeke also pleased to be sticking around. “To come here was the best decision I could take. I found myself again, I rediscovered my passion for cycling, and this has made me happy," he says. "Winning the Vuelta and Liège with Remco are just two of the best memories I have from these seasons, because each time I had the feeling that I contributed to the history of cycling. I am ready for more and hope to help the team get other resounding victories in the next two seasons."

Soudal - Quick-Step boss Patrick Lefevere praised both riders as he continues looking to the future. “Retaining the services of both Ilan and Louis was an easy decision, a part of our long-term plan, and we are delighted they both decided to stay with us. They joined the team just two years ago, but they showed themselves plenty of times in all kinds of races and situations, and it was those displays, as well as their character, that convinced us their place is here”
