“It’s been a long three years to get back here" - Chloe Dygert takes emotional track gold at Glasgow World Championships

It's not that long ago at all that Chloe Dygert's career was almost brought to a premature end following a horrific crash at the 2020 World Championship. Three short years later she's back to her best and winning track gold in Glasgow.

“It’s been a long three years to get back here,” Dygert said post-race referencing her struggles to try and get back to her best. The American's leg was seriously injured in the crash, and she has required multiple operations over the past few years. “The goal is always to go faster, but this ride felt good.”

Dygert's victory in the individual pursuit is the first elite gold of the Glasgow World Championships with the American dominant in victory, catching the reigning champion, Germany's Franziska Brausse on the final lap of her victory.

“Wearing the rainbow stripes is always an honour,” an emotional and delighted Dygert concluded. “and I’m proud to be able to wear them again.”
