Luke Lamperti Soudal - Quick-Step's new sprinter as team see Jakobsen and Vernon leave

As Ethan Vernon was announced to leave Soudal - Quick-Step, the Belgian team immediately revealed the signing of Luke Lamperti. The 20-year old American is one of the most promising fast men on the market and he may fill in the spots left by the team who's building itself around Remco Evenepoel.

“We have known Luke for some time now and we are delighted that he decided to turn pro with us," Patrick Lefevere said, pleased with the transfer from Trinity Racing. "He’s one of the most talented riders coming from the U23 ranks, he has a lot of potential, and a big love for the Classics, so he’s in the right place to discover the Belgian one-day races and develop. We look forward to the next two years."

In similar fashion as many other sprinters, Lefevere's team has signed Lamperti who should have freedom to chase his results and is settling into a team with decades of experience in the sprints. A pro since 2021, he's taken 9 wins this year including the American criterium national championships, the Rutland-Melton Classic and a stage at the under-23 Giro d'Italia. He is one of the fastest sprinters in the under-23 ranks and was under eye of several World Tour teams, but has made his decision.

“I looked up to this team since I was a really little kid and I’m really excited to join them and see where this takes me. Soudal Quick-Step is known for developing young guys and this had a massive impact on my decision to come here," Lamperti says. "It’s the right fit for me. I see myself doing more of the Classics in the future as I progress in the sport, I just love the cobbled one-day races, and I’m glad I will do it with the Wolfpack.”
