"I especially want to say sorry to the team, I really scared them" - Marlen Reusser hits the deck but bounces back up to take World Championship title

Helping Switzerland to successfully defend title in the mixed relay team time-trial event at the Glasgow World Championships, you'd think Marlen Reusser would be elated. Actually though, it was more relief as she explained afterwards.

"I gave my teammates a fright, luckily we were able to straighten it out," said the 31-year-old post-race after crashing hard whilst the Swiss women were just finding their groove out on the course. Thankfully for both Reusser and the remainder of the Swiss team, it wasn't a race-ending one, she was able to get back on the bike and chase back onto her teammates's wheel.

"I especially want to say sorry to the team, I really scared them. Maybe I could have made it more exciting for the fans," she says with a smile. “It is very nice to become world champion for the second time in a row. It shows that we have a strong team. Everyone wanted to get involved again this year, that's nice."
