With 25km still to go, Marc Hirschi started the attacks in the peloton behind. Onto the final 11.3km lap though, the attackers had been caught and a select group controlled the front of the race. With the next attack to go clear being a four man group that included Antonio Tiberi (+10 at the start of the day), the GC was at risk in the final 3km as the
Bahrain - Victorious man, David Gaudu, Quinn Simmons and Jordan Jegat led by 30 seconds. Gaudu took the stage victory and the 10 bonus seconds, Tiberi missed out on bonuses all together importantly. As the likes of Van der Poel chased hard, the time ticked over and overall victory ended up in the hands of Tiberi!
