  Technically EPO wasn't commercially introduced until 1989 when it received FDA approval. Although it was used for clinical trials from 1985 to 1989, there is no doubt it found it's way into some athletes veins but it wasn't truly used until Indurain's era, we know Big Mig was on the kit from 1990 until he retired.

  Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree. LA won a stage in his first TdF at 21 then won the worlds later that year. He was phenominally talented. I don't really respect the guy, but if you gave him a level playing field with todays riders, I'm not sure he would not win just as many. Maybe not though, since the TdF has decided time trialing is no longer important.

  Technically Lance found it at 27, not 28. What he's saying is that Lance found EPO at 27 or really around 24, pre cancer. Lance did have talent but compared to Tadej, Jonas and Remco he was really nothing that great, he would be like the tenth or fifteenth best guy who could ride a Tour with them. It's interesting that Greg would have probably won five Tours had he not been delt a two year withdrawal after he was shot by accident, maybe even six. We will never know but Lemond was strong.

  Lance Armstrong is becoming very good at saying what people want to hear hoping they will let him back in the door. I don't believe for a second that he thinks Pogi would have beaten him all things being equal. People just want to say he won because of drugs, but his focus and consistancy were what set him above his rivals. If you put him within the same constraints that Pogi has right now, ie. untouchable, on the best program, with the best equipment, on the best team, I'm sure he believes he would still be the best. He's being disingenuous for his own benefit. No surpise.

  I'm never going to criticize LeMond for bashing Armstrong because no one suffered from Armstrongs a-hole-ness more than LeMond, but saying he was a nag who suddenly turned into a stallion is just wrong. LA was destroying people as a teenage triathlete, won Tour stages at a young age and was one of the youngest world champions in history on a hard, rainy day to finish solo in front of Indurain and Ludwig. He followed that up in '94 by nearly completing the Ardennes double winning Fleche and taking 2nd in LBL. He was no nag before cancer. LeMond won that battle in the end and should let it go.

  It wasn't a gift to MVP, it was help. Sure he wanted to win but when he knew he couldn't, he pulled until be cracked to help his friend win. That's it.

  This guy is all hype and will never be a grand tour winner. I am not saying he is not an above average rider that is capable of winning some stages but he has shown he is just not up to the task. He just keeps getting hyped by the media like Caine U but he just doesn't have what it takes.
