The first road race of the 2023 World Championships has culminated with a solo win. The punchy technical circuit saw France's Julie Bego take on the first rainbow jersey as a result of her performance in the streets of Glasgow.
It was an attack from far that earned her the win, the French rider set off solo into the final 15 kilometers and anticipated the rest, having tremendous legs to hold off the chasing groups which put on a very strong chase towards the finale. Cat Ferguson rode to second place on the road whilst Fleur Moors was caught on the line but finished third after a late attack.
