UAE Team Emirates continue to boost climbing block as they sign 20-year old talent Igor Arrieta

UAE Team Emirates do not stop. They enter the transfer season with a bang, after signing Pavel Sivakov, Nils Politt and Filippo Baroncini, now 20-year old Spanish sensation Igor Arrieta signs a three-year deal with the Emirati team.

“I’m very pleased and excited to be part of UAE Team Emirates for next season," Arrieta said in a press release. "It’s one of the best teams in the world and to be there in that group of top riders with the best staff and equipment is something I’m really happy about and looking forward to. I am ready to give my maximum to grow in the team over the coming years.”

A rider for Equipo Kern Pharma, the rumours of this move had been ongoing for a few months. It was a clear target for UAE, Arrieta surprised as a 19-year old last year in the international peloton riding among the best at Gran Camino and Vuelta a Asturias. This year his results have not been as consistent but he rode to eighth at the Tour du Jura Cycliste, only behind World Tour riders.

A very talented climber, UAE increases the strength of an already incredibly strong mountain team. “We’re very pleased to welcome Igor into the team for next season," team manager Mauro Gianetti was pleased to announce. "He is a young rider with potential to develop and we trust that he will make those steps in our team in the years to come.”
