It has already been over a week since Jonas Vingegaard's crash at Itzulia Basque Country and the updates are not promising. Little information comes from the Team Visma | Lease a Bike camp, but Vingegaard's father is specially worried as he is not given updates from his wife or the team itself.
“It's really hell for us. A week after his fall, my wife (Vingegaard's mother, ed.) and I still haven't heard from Jonas," Claus Vingegaard said in an interview with Ekstra Bladet. "We just didn't get the chance yet. Not with Jonas, but also not with his wife and Visma | Lease a Bike. I don't know how that is possible, but it has to be that way, right?"
The worrying situation comes after the diagnosis of a broken collarbone, several ribs and a punctures lung. The Tour de France champion has in recent days underwent operations on his collarbone and lung, and is still in the Basque Country requiring medical support. For Vingegaard's father however it is unthinkable that after so much time he has not yet been personally updated, which dramatically increases his concerns over the Danish rider's condition.
“We really only know what we read in the media. It's not that we don't want to visit him in Spain, but at the moment I don't think we should. We are currently only receiving minor updates," he says, hoping for a quick change in the situation.

What a disaster for cycle racing that stage has been. I don't recollect so many riders being so badly injured in one stage before. Best of luck and get well soon guys.

Would be surprise to see him in Vuelta this year... Hope he chose to return next year in either Giro or TDF, better return at 100% than 60%
