There have been a few riders that have specially showed their aggressive style of racing in the
Tour de France. Two in particular,
Jonas Abrahamsen and
Richard Carapaz, took the fans' hearts with three weeks of non-stop attacking and providing a show in the race, and the Norwegian has officially spent over 700 kilometers in the head of the race.
Abrahamsen, according to ProCyclingStats, spent 732 kilometers in the leading group of the Tour de France - this, of course, only includes groups ahead of the peloton. The Norwegian was constantly on the attack throughout the race, in all kinds of stages. On seven occasions he was in the break of the day including the first two days of the race. He briefly wore the green jersey as leader of the points classification but wore the KOM jersey for around half of the race. Taking into consideration the Tour's distance was of 3498 kilometers (including time-trials), he effectively spent over 20% of the race in the leading group, or 1 in every 5 kilometers.
Richard Carapaz followed in second place, having only begun his hunt for wins on the second week of the race, but doing enough to earn the super combative award. His also earned the KOM jersey and won a stage in Super-Dévoluy - the only day in the mountains that wasn't won by a GC rider.
Oier Lazkano, Valentin Madouas, Ben Healy, Tobias Johannessen, Quentin Pacher, Romain Grégoire, Cristián Rodríguez and Julien Bernard were amongst those who have also spent the most time in the head of the Tour de France.
