INEOS and Tom Pidcock's negotiations with Q36.5 fall apart, according to report - "INEOS Grenadiers was even prepared to pay part of his salary after his departure"

Tom Pidcock's past few weeks have been riddled with indecision over his future. We do not know at this time whether the INEOS Grenadiers rider will stay or leave for another team; and even if he leaves to where this may be. Recently Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team has seemed to be the most likely destination but the negotiations seemed to fall apart.

The relations between the team and Pidcock seemed to be far from ideal as he struggled to perform on the road when comparing to the potential he's had in recent years, and leading up to the Tour de France he talked about how he was setting his own goals and not the team, a clear sign that he was also not planning on supporting the team's GC ambitions with Carlos Rodríguez. The team management ordered to remove him from the lineup of Il Lombardia, one that was heavily criticized and seems to have no reason other than the rumours of his departure. The team had in him their best chance of obtaining a result and the Briton was showing good form for the first time in months.

Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, Tudor Pro Cycling and Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe were the main teams that could be in the run for the signing. Q36.5, whose financier is also the owner of Pinarello - the bike brand which is a personal spronsor of the Briton as well. With three seasons of contract still ahead, this transfer would always be a complex situation.

Daniel Benson, who is extensively covering Pidcock's case, now reports that this specific transfer may have fallen through. "INEOS Grenadiers was even prepared to pay part of his salary after his departure. However, Pidcock's transfer seems to have failed after negotiations between the rider and the British team over his departure terms have failed in the past 48 hours."
