"I could return in time for the Eschborn-Frankfurt 2024" - Anders Skaarseth eyes possible return after more than a year at the German semi-classic

Anders Skaarseth was one of Uno-X's most solid riders, especially in terms of fast finals and one-day races. The 28-year-old Norwegian turned professional in 2020 and since then had been following a constant growth path that had seen him collect several good results, including second place in a stage of the 2022 Critérium du Dauphiné.

Skaarseth was ready for a quality 2023 when fate got in the way: during the E3 Saxo Classic 2023, last March, in a fall originating from a contact with Sep Vanmarcke the Norwegian fractured his left tibia, an injury that kept him out throughout the season and which to date has not yet been fully surpassed.

Despite the complications, Skaarseth still tried to train: "I did everything I could do. What prospects do I have? Considering the month of January as post-surgery rehabilitation, I expect to have no more pain by February and to be able to train at full speed between March and April. Then I could return in time for the Eschborn-Frankfurt 2024, which is scheduled for May 1st. That's a race that I like and maybe there Alexander Kristoff could need a hand to get a good result," he reveals his ambitions when talking to Eurosport Norge.

From his non-privileged point of view, Skaarseth was able to follow the growth of his teammates: "Some came out of the Tour de France very well. Doing a Grand Tour definitely helps you and that would have been the next step in my growth. Now I had to interrupt the plan, but the basic idea remains the same. You often take things for granted, until something happens that puts you in a difficult situation."
