- I seriously doubt the intentions of writers who keep harping on the frailties of a once-respected competitor. It only goes to show that cycling lacks any relevance to present-day concerns, if all we can write about is the opinion of people who lament the greatness of the current crop of riders. RDV may be old, but he's still entitled to his opinions, but to air them repeatedly only exposes him to ridicule, and that is not fair, from the journalistic POV.
- And no one will notice....
- he retired a long time ago, he was just drawing a 5 mil salary for the last five years. year 1 "i want to win the TDF again" year 2 "I want to podium the TDF" year 3 "i want to win a stage in the tdf" year 4 "i want to participate in the TDF" year 5 is the year he understood that he could not compete in the TDF
- Roger de Vlaeminck is one of cycling's greatest legends, he is also a senile idiot. Both can be true at the same time. Brian Holm also falls into that category. To say that he will not be dropped with any data to support such claim🤦
- It was long due (CF). Best wishes to Froomey and Woodsey in retirement
- that TdF picture is cringeworthy
- Paul Seixas has not delivered a top performance yet.
- Cycling as a sport has one of the weakest merch games I've ever seen. I am a fan of the sport, and do not cycle myself - and there is a complete lack of opportunities for me as a fan of the teams or specific riders to hand them my money in ways that I can (and do) for other sports and musicians. It's all very well selling cycling kit to the fans who ride, but it's like Metallica only selling high end guitars and drums on their website. These teams could be making a not-insignificant amount of money by selling the kind of fandom merch that (unfortunately for them) only really exists on places like Etsy, made by third parties. I want to support the teams and riders I like, but there's hardly any way for me to do it as a non-riding fan. And if the sport really wants to expand, it needs to attract more fans like me, and good quality, well-designed merchandise is the way to do it. Not with cycling jerseys, the occasional embarrassing dad tshirt or fifty euro coffee mug.
- Yes chased down own team mate when bridging across to Tom Pidcock in Strada Bianche lol
- Cyclocross is a way more "traditional" winter sport than some of the ridiculous subdivisions of freestyle skiing and snowboarding that have evolved over the last couple of decades.
