George Bennett forced to leave Tour de Suisse as consequence of his crash in first stage: "It's obviously a big disappointment"

George Bennett didn't start stage 5 of Tour de Suisse as a result of a crash in high speed in the opening stage of the race. The UAE Team Emirates withstood the pain for three more days before it was too much to bear.

"I'm optimistic the damage isnt anything that a few days on the couch won’t fix and I should be good to go again in a few days," says Bennett whose next schedule is unclear.

"It's obviously a big disappointment after putting so much into this period but it’s part of the game and I can’t help but feel a little bit lucky to be able to ride away from a crash at that speed," he concludes his Instagram story, wishing best of luck to his remaining teammates.
