In the 4th of September the peloton will be in the USA for the Maryland Cycling Classic, USA's newest main road racing one-day race. Four World Tour teams have confirmed their presence and will be battling on American roads.
EF Education rider Sebastian Langeveld said in a recent interview that "we first wait for the period up to and including the Tour. If that doesn't go well, then we will – unfortunately – have to look at that relegation battle". However, although a move that makes whole sense due to being a home race, the American team is looking for points.
The World Tour will also have the representation of Israel - Premier Tech who find themselves in the same situation. Trek - Segafredo and Team BikeExchange - Jayco had previously confirmed their presence.
“The addition of two quality WorldTour teams further solidifies the Maryland Cycling Classic as the top one-day pro cycling race in the U.S," race organizer John Kelly said. “The composite U.S. National Team joining the field also provides an exciting opportunity for young U.S. talent. The line-up is rounding out very well and we’re thrilled to see a strong international mix of teams with riders from more than 20 countries. It’s truly a world-class international field".
