The Briton finished third at Amstel Gold Race this Sunday and in the meantime prepared for Flèche Wallone. He was rated by many as one of the big favourites and was in a good position at the Mur de Huy, hoping to fight for the win. However that wasn't to be today, as Romain Bardet accelerated in the final few hundred meters many followed but the
INEOS Grenadiers rider wasn't one of them. Pidcock didn't have the legs on the day and crossed the line 18th, disappointed.
"It is what it is, if I have my day, I can win this race. But when it came down to it, I had no energy," he says, realistic with his performance. "It was a fast day with a lot of headwind, which made it difficult. I have a bit more time for Liège-Bastogne-Liège, I'm looking forward to that."
