The main conclusion of this MSR surely is that Jonas is irrelevant.24-03-2025 09:11

He already is the GOAT. Merckx rode decades ago when the sport was far less professional and the opposition weaker. You might as well say Djokovic is approaching Rod Laver or Messi is getting near to Stanley Matthews. If a sport advances and you are at the top, you are the GOAT.09-03-2025 04:35

Jonas is good but his wins were due to Visma team tactics and Pogacar riding naively, in one case, and Pogacar not being fully prepared, on the second occasion. Pogacar (and UAE) have become smarter tactically - far less wasted energy and more protection for the team leader - since 2022, and barring further injury or illness for Tadej it's hard to see Jonas winning another Tour.03-01-2025 02:54

He seems to be suggesting that never winning the Tour would be fine because (a) no one else will do the Olympics double that he did, and (b) that double is as good as anything anyone else will achieve. Mind games with self, I think.02-01-2025 06:04

The other thing to note is that The Move is a very tedious podcast. Lance and his doping buddies seem barely to prepare for the topics they discuss. Instead they just dial in and drone on as if just being Lance is enough. Lanterne Rouge shows how to do it. Two young guys who know far more about the sport and really make an effort.29-12-2024 05:33

If Remco had avoided COVID he would have won the Giro last year. If he avoided that postal van he would have won at least some one-week races this year. With his rate of illness and injury he is at risk of never achieving his potential.28-12-2024 14:02
