Victories (World Tour): 14 (4)
Top riders in UCI rankings: Guillaume Martin (36th)
Rating - 6.11
Rúben Silva (CyclingUpToDate): 5.5. 30 riders and 3 stagiaires. Cofidis know what they have to do, have a large roster and race as much as possible, taking UCI points, targeting the French calendar which also has plenty UCI points at it's disposal... The team was 15th this year for good decisions, although the team largely missed the big screens. Victor Lafay's Tour de France win was the highlight, Ion Izagirre also taking another one and performed very well on the Basque Country as usual. Not a great season, not a bad one... A normal one. A few highlights whilst they performed over the French races and took some wins.
Kieran Wood (CyclingUpToDate): 6. For French teams, their seasons often live and die by their performance in the Tour de France. In that regard, Cofidis were more successful than they have been in years. Top-10 overall through Guillaume Martin with two stage wins through Victor Lafay and Ion Izagirre, it was a very impressive performance from the team. Other than Jesus Herrada’s Vuelta a Espana stage win however, much of Cofidis’ joy was consigned to the smaller, French races as they failed to make a consistent impact at World Tour level.
Ondřej Zhasil (CyclingUpToDate): 8. It was not a bad year for Cofidis at all. Two stage wins and a top 10 at their home Grand Tour certainly line up with their goals for 2023 and top 10 results from two monuments along with another stage win from La Vuelta is just a nice bonus. With total of 14 UCI wins, this was a successful year for the team from Hauts-de-France.
Juan Larra (CiclismoAlDia): 8. Cofidis' year is extraordinary for the simple fact that they hadn't won in the Tour de France for an eternity and have managed to close it with two victories in the Grande Boucle (Victor Lafay and Ion Izagirre) and, if that wasn't enough, with another victory for Jesús Herrada in the Vuelta a España. Until then, Bryan Coquard's classics victories in minor races and brilliant points from Izagirre, Herrada, Pérez or Lafay gave some shine to a year that, as we said, and because it is a French team, has been a success for them.
Jorge Borreguero (CiclismoAlDia): 6. Cofidis is aware that their year has not been bad, considering the two stage wins in the Tour de France, as they were not looking to aspire to more at the time. However, the rest of the year there has been very little of note from the French team, which has to look much higher in 2024 in terms of ambitions.
Victor Gonzalez (CiclismoAlDia): 5. The great Tour de France at the collective level, the victory of Jesús Herrada in the Vuelta a España and two top 10s in Monuments make me approve of Cofidis' season.
Filipe Pereira (CiclismoAtual): 6. Cofidis were a fairly consistent team in 2023 with several top 10s in one day races. An amazing Tour de France with Victor Lafay and Ion Izaguirre ending a over 15 year TDF stage victory drought make this a season to remember for a team that managed to stand out in the sprint, with Couqard and Axel Zingle, with Max Walscheid also being an option. Other than that, breakaways kept being the go-to strategy for the team and one that also paid off in the Vuelta, thanks to Jesús Herrada
Carlos Silva (CiclismoAtual): 6. 3 wins on GT's justify the good season.
Ivan Silva (CiclismoAtual): 4.5. Top 10 at Tour de France with 2 stage wins and a stage win also at Vuelta a España with 2 monument top 10 spots sum the season from Cofidis.
