BORA - hansgrohe were a team with many performers in 2023 but no-one who stood out. 10th in the UCI rankings, it builds towards a future that may be very bright with Primoz Roglic.
UCI ranking 2023: 13.325 (10th)
Victories (World Tour): 23 (7)
Top riders in UCI rankings: Aleksandr Vlasov (26th)

Rating - 6.83

Rúben Silva (CyclingUpToDate): 7. BORA somehow lack THAT win. Jai Hindley's Tour de France win and yellow jersey were the highlight of the season but on that day overshadowed by Jonas Vingegaard's performance. The Australian proved himself riding in France but a crash spoiled what could've been a podium. Sergio Higuita, Nils Politt, Max Schachmann and Bob Jungels could've added a lot more than what turned out, whilst Sam Bennett had an absolute off season. It's a shame as BORA had a premium leadout, Danny van Poppel is perfect for the job but he couldn't take the big wins by himself - Jordi Meeus did win at Champs-Élysées which made his season, but not the team's. It is a similar team to Bahrain with plenty quality riders but without a defining leader. Aleksandr Vlasov, Cian Uijtdebroeks and Lennard Kämna all left their small mark in the season. Maybe Primoz Roglic's signing will be what they need to turn this 7 into a 10.
Kieran Wood (CyclingUpToDate): 7. A solid season for BORA - hansgrohe with everything we’ve come to expect from the German-based outfit. Grand Tour stage wins through Nico Denz, Jai Hindley, Jordi Meeus and Lennard Kamna, continued victories throughout the season all the way from the Vuelta a San Juan to the Tour of Turkey but they perhaps missed that truly standout performance. Likely that will change in 2024 thanks to the addition of someone capable of winning any race he enters… Primoz Roglic.
Ondřej Zhasil (CyclingUpToDate): 7.5. If there was one thing Bora were good at, it would stacking up wins, especially in smaller competitions. At the biggest level, it always felt like they've been there, not doing much. Four GT stages, regular top 10 GC appearances, and handful of top 5 results from big classics however speak in their favor.
Juan Larra (CiclismoAlDia): 7. It was not an easy year for them after a year in which they had managed to win the general classification of the Tour de France and they finished on a high note after stage wins in the three major races (a double by Denz in the Giro, by Jai Hindley and Jordi Meeus in the Tour and by Lennard Kämna in the Vuelta). Beyond that, also top 10 in the three Grand Tours and a great performance in the Itzulia with two partial victories. A solid year for the Germans.
Jorge Borreguero (CiclismoAlDia): 6.5. Although the future for BORA is exciting, with the signing of Primoz Roglic to fight for the overall Grand Tours classifications, in 2023 the team has not been able to shine as it wanted. Although they won stage victories in the Giro, Tour and Vuelta, they have not managed to win any race. Its most notable result is Jai Hindley's 7th place in the Tour de France.
Victor Gonzalez (CiclismoAlDia): 6. BORA - hansgrohe is also a team that has made top 10 in the three Grand Tours and has achieved very good results in important races but has been less consistent than Bahrain - Victorious, so I give them a lower grade.
Filipe Pereira (CiclismoAtual): 7.5. BORA-hansgrohe had a very simillar season to Bahrain Victorious, standing out in a wide range of races, namely on Grand Tours, even going as far as getting a GC top 10 in all of them. BORA got 25 wins with 15 different riders, with names such as Danny Van Poppel and Jordi Meeus standing out as much as Bauhaus and Milan in Bahrain, respectively. Hindley, Alekandr Vlasov and Cian Uijtdebroeks make this team a GC threat, a status that promisses to level up in 2024, with the arrival of Primoz Roglic.
Carlos Silva (CiclismoAtual): 7.
Ivan Silva (CiclismoAtual): 6. 5 stage wins across all 3 Grand Tours (including the prestigious arrival in Paris), 4 top 10 finishes in Grand Tour GC including 1 day riding in the yellow Jersey at the Tour de France. Other than that there's 2 stage wins in Basque Country and several top 10 results in 1-day classics and 1-week races.
