Chris Froome hints at retirement as he makes Arctic Race of Norway debut

Chris Froome has signed a five-year contract with Israel - Premier Tech into the 2021 season. It was a move that, performance wise, wasn't worthy for the Israeli team and Froome himself has for many years been far from the level he displayed in the last decade. But he remained in the pro peloton and will do so in 2025. But the Briton has for the first time hinted at retirement later.

“It’s nice to continue discovering new races, and the Arctic Race of Norway is definitely one of them,” Froome said at the Arctic Race of Norway where he is competing this week. “Next year will almost certainly be my last season as a professional. I enjoy being part of the team and having the role of sharing my experience with my teammates.”

Froome is in Norway as a domestique for the team that is looking to help Tom van Asbroeck for the sprint but mainly compatriot Joe Blackmore for the hilly days and overall classification. After having missed the Tour de France once again, the veteran was left without a clear goal for the rest of the season.
