Team DSM have had a difficult season and that included their sprinters. Whilst Alberto Dainese managed to win a stage at the Giro d'Italia, very little has been seen of the Dutch team all year long in the flat stages, and they're loosing a rider that it had developed over the last few years in Cees Bol.
Having turned professional in 2019, Bol has taken five wins including some at World Tour level throughout his years in Team DSM, however has in 2022 not been anywhere near his past level. The Dutch powerhouse sprinter was visible at the Tour of Turkey with several Top10 finishes; he raced the Giro in support of Dainese, but was forced out of the Tour de France due to a Covid-19 infection during the Tour de Suisse's outbreak.
Wielerflits reports that he got an offer from Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux, however chose to accept one from B&B Hotels-KTM who will be having their budget increased significantly and are looking for leaders into the 2023 season.
A team with some sprinter tradition, Bol should have a leadership role but at the same time some support, as he will likely be focusing on a more modest calendar in order to be bringing in stage wins once again.
