Enric Mas won't be starting the 19th stage of the Tour de France as he tested positive for Covid-19 in a pre-stage test this morning.
The news come right after Imanol Erviti tested positive aswell, leading to believe there was transmission within Movistar Team. Mas was riding into the 19th stage in 11th place after a relatively disappointing Tour de France, where he struggled on the descents but also didn't have the familiar consistency that has in the past seen him perform against the very best.
Inside the final week of the race Covid-19 keeps taking out riders from the race, but Mas will now take time to recover before targeting the Vuelta a España where he finished second place last year behind Primoz Roglic.
