"Can be satisfied with the result and how the shape is" - Max Poole limits losses in UAE Tour time-trial to remain in GC contention

Not necessarily renowned for his time-trialing abilities, Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL's Max Poole did well to limit his losses and keep himself in general classification contention at the 2024 UAE Tour.

“It was a solid effort in the end," reflected the 20-year-old Brit in a post-stage conversation with his team's official website. "With the layout of the course meaning you were almost always on the pedals, and with the conditions today you really had to be on it from the start."

Finishing 14th on the stage, just 27 seconds down on the eventual winner of the day, UAE Team Emirates' Brandon McNulty, Poole remains firmly in general classification contention heading into Wednesday's first summit finish of the race.

"I just tried my best to keep the focus on the position and holding a good power throughout the course," Poole concludes. "We can be satisfied with the result and how the shape is, and hope to be able to carry that into the rest of the week.”
