Bouhanni suffers cervical vertebra fracture in freak spectator crash

Arkéa-Samsic have gone through a very bad day at the Tour of Turkey, and they have issued a press release revealing the extend of the injuries sustained by their riders. Nacer Bouhanni was the most prominent, having abandoned the race after a high-speed crash involving a pedestrian.

The Frenchman has suffered a fracture of the first cervical vertebra according to the team, and is currently hospitalized in the Izmir Hospital.

The team have also mentioned the remaining riders who were affected. Nairo Quintana, who crashed twice and lost significant time for his GC bif at the race, has suffered severe skin abrasions on his left side and back. His brother Dayer who also went down in the same crash also suffered multiple abrasions.

Kevin Ledanois, who crossed the finish line alongside the team leader will not take to the start of the third stage after suffering trauma to the left knee and spine pain.
