Disaster in Turkey for Arkéa as Quintana looses time and Bouhanni abandons due to crashes

The Tour of Turkey has so far been very complicated for Team Arkéa-Samsic has they've struggled with crashes today. Whilst Nacer Bouhanni had to abandon the race, Nairo Quintana crashed twice and lost meaningful time for his GC big in the race.

The Colombian hit the deck twice during the day, the first with 38 kilometers to go, however he recovered to then put himself near the head of the peloton in the final kilometers. With four kilometers to go however he hit the deck once again and, outside the three kilometers, he ended up loosing 1:44 minutes in the GC which will be a big hit to his ambitions. Furthermore, the possible injuries from his crashes may hinder his performance when the race hits the mountains.

Nacer Bouhanni has also crashed and had to abandon the race. He was involved in a crash that took place with just over 60 kilometers which has involved Manuel Peñalver who also abandoned. The accident was caused by a pedestrian who was seemingly unaware of the race and was in the road, where several riders couldn't avoid him.
