As last year, this edition of Amstel Gold Race came down to the absolute smallest margin between first and second. Michal Kwiatkowski took advantage of INEOS' numerical superiority in the finale of the Ardennes triple opener and attacked at the right time. Albeit joined by Benoît Cosnefroy, he managed to outsprint the Frenchman in the final straight with a photo-finish finale.
With this win, INEOS took the biggest chunk of the prize money with Kwiatkowski bringing in €16.000 euros, with Pidcock's prize for 11th place adding a little bit. As a one-day race the order almost completely matches with the individual places at the end from the team's best riders, and that is visible here with Cosnefroy's AG2R Citroën Team bringing in €8.000 for second place and Tiesj Benoot's Jumbo-Visma bringing in €4.000 for the Belgian's third place in the race.
