Bahrain - Victorious have announced a mid-season transfer, as young Matevz Govekar will be joining one of the World Tour's top teams this June in order to expand the team's Slovenian contingent.
Govekar, 22, has developed himself as a very diverse rider, strong for the flat and relatively hilly races. Having spent the last two seasons in the Tirol KTM Cycling Team, he's finished fifth last year at Trofeo Matteotti, and this year has been riding strongly in the Balkan calendar. He's won a prologue at the Istrian Spring Trophy aswell as other top results in fast stages.
"I’m super excited to be joining Team Bahrain Victorious now in the middle of the season, and I will use the remaining time to gain experience and learn from the experienced riders and staff in the team," Govekar said. He will be racing on a two and a half year contract starting on the first of June, and will be the team's fourth Slovenian rider.
