With the season developing, new transfer rumours emerge almost on a daily basis.
Guillaume Martin, leader of
Cofidis' mountain block, is said to be a possibility for Arkéa Samsic who is set to be the French team's direct rival in the World Tour in the upcoming seasons.
"Yes, we are interested. He is a racer who weighs in French cycling, he is a safe bet," Arkéa Samsic general manager Emanuel Hubert told the media recently. With rumours of Astana Qazaqstan Team's interest in Nairo Quintana, there is uncertainty over the team's future in the top ranks of climbing. With the World Tour promotion likely to be in place for 2023, options are already being scouted to improve the team's level.
Guillaume Martin is an option. As many of his fellow countrymen over the last decade like Thibaut Pinot, Romain Bardet and Warren Barguil, Martin has also had the majority of his career leading the French teams' climbing and is not looking to departure from the national teams. Cofidis has been his home for the last three seasons, and Arkéa may be his next destination.
Martin is currently riding the Giro d'Italia, sitting in 16th place in the overall classification after struggling in the stage over Aprica; until that point he had been riding in contention for the contention of the Top10.
