Arnaud De Lie triumphs at Tro-Bro Léon 2024

Lotto Dstny's Arnaud De Lie has continued to star on his return from Lyme Disease with a fabulous victory at Tro-Bro Léon from a reduced bunch sprint.

Seven riders got free early on to form the day's breakaway. With 50km to go, their lead was just over a minute from a much-thinned-out peloton, where a crash had meant only around 30 riders remained. As things began to come back together behind though, the breakaway was soon reeled in by the bunch and with around 20km to go, only Morne van Niekerk remained ahead.

With Arnaud De Lie out the back with an all-timed puncture, the Lotto Dstny leader's rivals were attempting to keep the pace high so that the Belgian couldn't get back into contact. With 15km to go though, De Lie finally regained contact.

Still around 15 seconds clear of the peloton heading into the final 10km though, was van Niekerk. When the South African was caught however, an elite group of three led the race into the final 2.5km of De Lie, Riley Sheehan and Pierre Gautherat. Despite the fact those three were caught in the finale by the chasers, there was no stopping De Lie from taking victory ahead of Clement Venturini and Gautherat.
