Lotto Dstny's Belgian national champion Arnaud De Lie secured victory at Binche - Chimay - Binche 2024 in Belgium this Tuesday afternoon after a brutal final sprint.
Although six riders were up the road as the race entered the final circuit for the first time, the peloton had them on a relatively tight leash at just under the two minute mark. With still well over 40km to go though, the peloton completed the capture of the break and the race was all back together again. That wasn't the end of the attacking though as Alessandro Covi attempted a long range flier. Once he was caught, Magnus Cort Nielsen had a go.
Nevertheless, heading into the last 10km, the peloton had full control at the head of the race once again. In an incredibly fast sprint in Binche, Jasper Philipsen led from the front from distance but as the Belgian began to tie up on the cobbled finale, Arnaud De Lie came firing around to victory ahead of Biniam Girmay.
