Alexey Lutsenko might leave Astana after 2024 in one of the most surprising moves of the year

The mood in Astana Qazaqstan is currently over the moon thanks to Mark Cavendish, who managed to complete his mission and won the 35th Tour de France stage in his career, becoming the sole record holder. However things are from ideal in the Kazakh formation as reports emerge that their poster rider Alexey Lutsenko might be looking to continue his career elsewhere after 2024.

According to Belgian newspaper Le Soir, Lutsenko might compete in the Israel - Premier Tech colours next year. If this transfer really happens, it would be a huge shock to the cycling audience - after all taxes, death and Lutsenko in Astana were few certainties in our lives for a long time.

Lutsenko entered the professional with Astana in 2013 after he had become the U23 World Champion in Valkenburg year earlier. The Kazakh didn't take too long before he established himself as one of the leading figures of Astana, winning 43 times in its jersey. Among his biggest triumphs we must mention Tour de France stage in 2020 and overall victories at 2.Pro stage races in Oman, Norway or in China.
