Jasper Philipsen continues to struggle to replicate the immense success he had at the 2023
Tour de France in 2024. Although he crossed the line in 2nd on stage 6 behind Dylan Groenewegen, the Belgian has now been relegated.
In the opinion of the race jury, Philipsen's sprint was dangerous in the frantic finale in Dijon, with the
Alpecin-Deceuninck leader adjudged to have put
Wout van Aert's safety at risk as he shut the door on the Team Visma | Lease a Bike superstar. As a result of Philipsen's demotion, the current Green Jersey
Biniam Girmay moves up to 2nd place, with
Fernando Gaviria up onto the podium of the stage.
You can see the sprint for yourself in the video down below and make up your own mind on the decision!
He creates his own disasters. Last tour he was very arrogant and now it is payback time
Good. He can be disastrous and a bully.
He cries about his "Disaster" nickname. Dude.. If the shoe fits...
It's about time that he was relegated for riding like that.
Grand tour sprints do very little for me. It's hard to hold a straight line. Passing someone in a sprint means you are not holding a straight line. It's often crashes and carnage.
I'm fine with sprint finishes in one day events like the classics because we usually don't have what we see in grand tour finishes which is mayhem.
