Incredible Ganna makes history again as he breaks world record in Men's Individual Pursuit final at Track World Championships

The incredible Filippo Ganna made yet more history by breaking the Individual Pursuit world record on his way to claiming gold at the UCI Track World Championship in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

After Portugal's Ivo Oliveira had overturned an early deficit to relatively comfortably beat Great Britain's Dan Bigham for bronze, the all Italian race for gold with recent hour record holder Filippo Ganna taking on compatriot Jonathan Milan took centre stage.

Milan absolutely flew out of the blocks, leading for nearly a second a half at one point. The very experienced Ganna didn't get flustered however and slowly but surely began winding it up, closing the gap until before you knew it he was leading.

With victory all but assured, attention turned to whether or not Ganna would break the world record. As the Vélodrome National held it's breath Ganna powered harder than ever with his final lap being his fastest, breaking the world record and taking home a breathtaking victory.
