Puck Pieterse has won her second World Cup race of the season in Leogang, Austria. The versatile Dutch cyclist dominated a large part of the Cross-country competition and crossed the finish line solo.
Pieterse and Anne Terpstra had a strong start and quickly created a gap from the rest. The pace of the two was very high and it became too much for Terpstra after three laps. She had to let Pieterse go and eventually finished eighth.
"My tactic was to start fast, so that I had an advantage on the climbs on the slower starters," Pieterse explains her tactics in a quick interview. "I had a small gap right away, but it kept getting bigger and bigger. I was halfway through, but I kept pushing and luckily it worked out well. It was full throttle all the time," said Pieterse.
