Marlen Reusser left no place for doubts, as the SD Worx rider powered to a victory in 25,6 km ITT the riders encountered on the second stage od Tour de Suisse Women. The new leader of general classification talks about how much this victory means to her in a post-race interview.
"I dreamed of winning this time trial and taking the yellow here. It's a brutal discipline. During the ride I thought... I can't say that here, then you have to play beeps over it. But I'm glad I won in the end."
"Honestly, I thought: I'm not going to win. I heard that Longo Borghini was very close and she is the best descender in the peloton, while the technical part was still to come. I thought she was going to get it. Especially because, after what happened, I didn't go one hundred percent. I was not in a good flow for these dangerous corners. The fact that I won in the end makes me very happy."
"Of course it is difficult, it is a big shock. When you're in a race, you're completely focused. But on downhills… I've also had a few hard crashes in my career. It's always a process, where you have to regain confidence in cornering and going full throttle. Sometimes this sport is a bit stupid. What happened doesn't help. But this isn't an excuse, it's just something in my head. I think things will get better again."
